Description
Overview
Pharmox Eye Drops contain Moxifloxacin (0.5% w/v), an antibiotic used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis and other eye infections. Bacterial conjunctivitis is the infection of the conjunctiva (the transparent membrane that lines the eyelids and covers the white part of the eyeball), causing symptoms like pain, irritation, redness, itching, and watering of the eyes.
Composition
- Active Ingredient: Moxifloxacin (0.5% w/v)
Indications
- Bacterial Conjunctivitis: To manage bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis, characterized by pain, redness, and irritation.
- Other Eye Infections: It is also used to treat other bacterial infections of the eye as prescribed by the doctor.
How Pharmox Eye Drops Work
Pharmox Eye Drops contain Moxifloxacin, which works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, both of which are necessary for bacterial DNA replication and transcription. By blocking these enzymes, Moxifloxacin prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, ultimately leading to cell death and the resolution of the infection.
