Description

Aequimentin Oral Suspension is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in children, including infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is effective against bacteria that have developed resistance to other treatments, making it useful for treating multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.

Salt Composition
Amoxycillin (200mg), Clavulanic Acid (28.5mg)

How to Use
Administer Aequimentin Oral Suspension as per the doctor’s prescription. It’s best given with food to enhance absorption and reduce the risk of stomach discomfort. Shake the bottle well before each use and measure the dose accurately with a measuring cup. In case the child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, you can give the dose again. Do not double the dose if it’s time for the next scheduled dose.

Uses/Benefits
Aequimentin Oral Suspension treats bacterial infections by targeting bacteria that have become resistant to other medications. It is especially effective in treating resistant tuberculosis, as it combines two components: amoxycillin, which kills the bacteria, and clavulanic acid, which blocks the bacteria’s resistance mechanism.

Side Effects
Common side effects may include abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, allergic reactions, and mucocutaneous candidiasis. These effects are generally mild and subside as the body adapts to the medication. If they persist or cause concern, consult a doctor.

Restrictions

  • Kidney: Use with caution in children with kidney issues. Dose adjustments might be necessary, especially for newborns and infants with underdeveloped kidney function.
  • Liver: Caution is advised in children with liver problems. A doctor may adjust the dose, and regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended.
