Your Child’s Medicine at a Glance
Ondem Syrup is a medication used to treat nausea and vomiting in children. It is commonly prescribed to manage nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and gastrointestinal infections. Ondem Syrup also helps control vomiting due to side effects from medicines like painkillers.

Salt Composition/Key Ingredient

  • Ondansetron (2mg/5ml)

How to Use
Give Ondem Syrup as prescribed by your child’s doctor. The medicine may be taken before or after meals, depending on the condition being treated:

  • For chemotherapy-induced vomiting, give Ondem 30 minutes before the treatment.
  • For radiotherapy, give the medicine 1 to 2 hours prior.
  • For surgery, give it 1 hour before the procedure.
If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the dose, repeat the dose, but do not give a double dose if the next scheduled dose is approaching. Always measure the syrup using a proper measuring cup, shake well before use, and follow the prescribed timing.

Uses of Ondem Syrup in Children

  • Prevents and treats vomiting and nausea caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and stomach/intestinal infections.

Side Effects of Ondem Syrup in Children
Ondem Syrup is generally well-tolerated by children, but some temporary side effects may occur, including:

  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Headache

These side effects typically subside as your child’s body adjusts to the medication. If any side effects persist or become bothersome, contact your child’s doctor.

How Ondem Oral Solution Works
Ondem Syrup works by blocking the action of serotonin, a chemical released during treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgeries. This chemical can trigger vomiting by stimulating centers in the brain. Ondem blocks this effect, helping to prevent nausea and vomiting in your child.
