Description
Product Overview
Temsan-H Tablet is a combination medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is typically prescribed when a single medication is not sufficient to effectively control blood pressure. By lowering blood pressure, Temsan-H helps reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes in the future.
Salt Composition / Key Ingredients
- Telmisartan (40 mg)
- Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg)
How to Use
Take Temsan-H Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day to help maintain a consistent level of the medication in your blood. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet—swallow it whole. Since Temsan-H contains a diuretic (water pill), it will increase urination, so it is advisable to avoid taking it close to bedtime (within four hours before sleeping) to prevent frequent trips to the bathroom at night. It is important to take the medication regularly, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms. Stopping the medication prematurely can increase your risk of serious health complications like heart attacks or strokes.
Restrictions and Precautions
- Kidney or Liver Issues: Consult your doctor if you have any kidney or liver disease before taking Temsan-H.
- Heart Conditions: Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, as this medication may need to be adjusted based on your condition.
- Diabetes: Let your doctor know if you have diabetes, as this medication may affect your blood sugar levels.
- Potassium Intake: Avoid using potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless advised by your doctor, as Temsan-H can alter potassium levels.
- Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Temsan-H Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor for alternatives if you are pregnant or nursing.
- Alcohol: Drinking alcohol can further lower your blood pressure and may increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness.
How It Works
Temsan-H Tablet combines two active ingredients to effectively manage high blood pressure:
- Telmisartan (40 mg): An angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily, which lowers blood pressure.
- Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg): A diuretic (water pill) that increases urine output, reducing excess fluid in the body, which further helps to lower blood pressure.
Together, these medicines work to decrease blood pressure, reduce strain on the heart, and lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems.
Common Side Effects
Most side effects are mild and may resolve as your body adjusts to the medication. However, if any of the following persist or worsen, consult your doctor:
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Decreased magnesium levels in the blood (may lead to symptoms like muscle cramps or irregular heartbeats)
